A few requirements need to be followed for all the boxes that need to be shipped to various destinations. Various delivery packages include less than truckload (LTL), small parcel, and full truckload (FTL) shipping items. In this article, we will discuss all the requirements of shipping and routing.
Box Content Guidelines:
Box content information is mandatory to manage the inventory in every Shipping Center in USA, which ensures the delivery in quick order. We have listed all of the possible requirements for maintaining box content.
- Every box needs to have a single shipment ID which will help in managing the inventory of items. It is recommended to avoid the combination of multiple shipments in a single box.
- Every shipment needs to include the data about the sender, barcode, condition of the goods, goods quantity, packaging details including case packing or individual packing, and dimension and weight of the box.
Proper Packaging Guidelines:
Few guidelines need to be followed to maintain proper packaging for every shipment. These guidelines will help in maintaining the shipments from the damages and make them ready for transport.
- It is recommended to use a six-sided Box with all the flaps intact and rigid.
- Proper use of delivery and return addresses need to be clearly labeled in the box.
- Every shipment box needs to have a unique box id which needs to be printed and labeled in the shipping queue.
- In case of using the reusing boxes, it is mandatory to clear out all the markings, shipping labels, and barcodes.
- Any existing bar codes in the shipping box need to be removed or taped with opaque tape. This will ensure the scanning of proper barcodes instead of accidental scanning of incorrect bar codes during the shipment process.
- It is mandatory to wrap all the items separately instead of letting them together.
- Every shipping needs to have good material for packaging to avoid any kinds of damages.
- Unique kinds of strong tape need to be used for packaging, specially designed for shipping purposes.
- Two inches of questioning need to be applied for every item and inside the box for every shipment.
- Check every box by shaking them gently; appropriate packaging content should not be moved while shaken. This will ensure the proper safety of any goods which need to be transported.
- To reduce the chances of delays during the delivery, it is recommended to use the box with a dimension of 6x4x1 inches. And it also needs to weigh around 1lb.
- It also needs to be followed to not exceed any maximum size of weight requirement during the shipping. The side should not exceed 25 inches which include every side. And the total weight of the box should not be more than 50lb. Those requirements can be reconsidered in case the packaging item is more oversized.
Usage of Packaging Materials:
Various packaging materials are being used by shipping companies, although few of the proper materials are safe to use to avoid any damages. We have listed all the materials which is recommended to be used and which of the materials to be avoided for shipping purpose.
Packaging materials that need to be used:
- Inflatable Air pillows need to be used to avoid damages inside the box.
- Bubble wrap will ensure the consistency and the condition of the goods inside the box.
- Full sheets of paper specially made heavyweight craft paper is used for packaging items.
- Polyethylene foam sheeting is also recommended for packaging items for shipping.
Avoid these packaging materials:
- Thermocol Chips.
- Packaging Peanuts for any kinds of biodegradable material and corn starch.
- Shredded paper.
- Crinkle Wrap.
- Foam Strips.
Shipment Issues:
There might be the refusal of shipment might happen due to various common issues. The issues include new proper labeling, shipment box is larger than the mentioned guideline, violation of policy, sent to wrong address or damages to the shipment item. Shipment may also get rejected at the dog and will be returned at the company’s expense. Those are referred to as merchant damages or defective items returned with reasonable freight charges. So, it is recommended to follow all the guidelines we have provided to avoid any issues during the shipment.
