Make a Splash at Get Wet for a Pet
Get ready for a splish-splashin’ good time at Get Wet for a Pet to benefit the Humane Society of Elkhart County. This event, to be held on Saturday, July 25 at Simonton Lake (Elkhart, Indiana), aims to unite water lovers and pet lovers for a morning filled with activities.
“I recently adopted a cat from the shelter and as I walked from room to room looking at the animals, I vowed I would use my skills to do something to help” said Paula Turk, Owner of Stone Soup Promotions. “What better way than to enjoy the warm weather and beauty of Simonton Lake. It’s a win-win-win.”
Whether you’re a competitive swimmer or just looking for a fun morning at the lake, Get Wet for a Pet has something for everyone.
“Get Wet for a Pet is the perfect way to beat the heat, while also helping to care for the animals at the Humane Society,” said Rachel Dennis, Assistant Director of the Humane Society of Elkhart County. “We’re so grateful for companies like Stone Soup Promotions that host fundraisers for us.”
Get Wet for Pet activities include:
- Swim Races: Serious swimmers and multi-sport athletes can compete in one of four USMS-sanctioned distances including ¼ mile, ½ mile, 1 mile and 2 mile courses. ($30/swimmer for pre-registration by July 23. On-site registration $40. Fee includes cap, t-shirt, timing, awards, coffee, full breakfast buffet and $1.50/person GRIN fee.) Additional one day USMS fee if you are not a member of US Master Swimmers.
- Events: Just for fun, these water games will take you back to your days at summer camp!
- Newfoundland Dog Water Demonstration: See the amazing swimming skills of these giant dogs at 10:00 am. Oona and Friends are sure to delight!
- Breakfast Buffet: Grab a bite to eat at the Lake Shore Grill. Full breakfast buffet only $6.95, a portion of which will go to the Humane Society.
Want to help? Get Wet for a Pet needs volunteers to act as timers, kayakers and dock hands. Please do not bring your dogs to this event. This is not an adoption event.
